The TCTA Junior Development Committee under
the leadership of Jim Trapp and Stephanie Hickey has organized
junior boys and girls tournament teams patterned after the Boardman
Tennis Center junior tournament team format. All the top
juniors in
the three county area were invited to try out for spots on the
tournament team. For the boys, there were two tryouts at Packard Park, and the
competition was very high level. The final decision as to who made
the team was especially difficult considering that the last eight
participants beat people in front of them during the tryouts. The TCTA Tournament Teams

November 5 update
Participants are responsible for getting
substitutes and collecting the money if you cannot make a Thursday
night. The fee you should collect is $15.00 and contact Jim Trapp at
330-856-7589 to inform him of the person that will be substituting
so he can contact the instructors.
The instructors will be told not to give specific
instruction about a stroke unless asked or requested.
We understand that most of you participants have tennis pros and we
do not want to give conflicting instruction that might confuse the
team member.
There will be challenge matches every two weeks
starting the week of October 22-29, 2009. The first two weeks
(October 22-November 5, 2009) the even numbers will be challenging
the odd numbers. (Ex. 4 vs. 3, or 8 vs. 7) The following weeks
November 5-19, 2009 the odd numbers will challenge the even numbers.
(Ex. 5 vs. 4, or 9 vs. 8) You are responsible to report your scores
to Jim Trapp at 330-856-7589. You do not have to challenge if you do
not want to but vacations, tournaments, sickness cannot be used as
an excuse for not challenging or allowing a challenge. One of the
major objectives of this group is to get you to play other
individuals in pressure situations.
There will be matches set up with other tournament teams and
dates will be announced. Also every participant is encouraged to
play USTA sanctioned tournaments especially Boardman Tennis Center
tournaments.
October 5 update
The TCTA boys Junior Tournament Team will
meet on Thursday nights at Avalon Tennis Center from 8:20—10:00 PM,
starting Thursday, October 22, 2009. The team will be supervised by
Danny Karousis (Avalon Tennis Center) and Ryan Trapp (Avalon
Holdings Squaw), with a local tennis pro coming in each week to lend
their expertise. The practices are open to the public, and the group
is currently looking for local tennis pros to attend and lend
expertise. The current schedule of local pros is as follows:
